Thomas Sutcliffe

Companies & Troupes Musical Director

Thomas is a professional actor, singer, dancer and musician and has worked across many areas of the industry including the West End, regional/international/fringe and immersive theatre, TV, film, cruise lines, corporate events, opera, pantomime and workshops. He has a first-class BA (hons) degree from The Guildford School of Acting and Grade 8 in Flute and Piano (ABRSM).
Thomas began his singing training in the Bel Canto style with Stars of the West End’s Mike Sterling. Later he undertook Estill lessons with Royal Academy of Music Associate Ross Campbell and has continued his exploration of the singing voice attending sessions in Speech Level Singing (SLS) with Vocal Balance.

Thomas was a finalist for the 2018 Stiles and Drew Mentorship Award and 2020 Best New Song Award. He has also composed the music for Oti Mabuse’s children’s books, Dance With Oti.
Teaching Credits: With over 15 years of teaching experience, he has taught in numerous schools across the country tutoring one-to-one, running workshops, choirs and masterclasses. He has taught at many prestigious drama schools including, Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, Urdang Academy, GSA, ALRA and The London College of Music. As well as teaching peripatetic ABRSM singing and piano lessons, he has taught LAMDA, Rock School and Trinity syllabuses both privately and in secondary schools.
Thomas has also worked as a secondary school classroom Drama teacher leading KS3 and KS4 lessons and during 2018-19 he was the Acting Head of Music at Ark Greenwich Free School, London. In Salisbury he was the Senior Music teacher at Leehurst Swan School teaching Music to years 7-11 (GCSE).
Thomas is delighted to be teaching for Starcast again having led some lessons during the pandemic years. He is passionate about passing on his knowledge and expertise to aspiring theatre makers!
